The global mobile advertising market will be worth 41.9 billion dollars in 2017

Expo Media is organising the fifth edition of the Mobile Advertising Congress on March 26th 2014 at the JW Marriott Grand Hotel in Bucharest. The aim of the event is to bring to the forefront of the discussion the latest trends in the world of Mobile Marketing and to come up with practical solutions to maximise the potential of this communication platform.

The global mobile advertising market will be worth 18 billion dollars this year and is expected to grow to 41.9 billion in 2017, according to Gartner estimations. Mobile advertising is rapidly increasing in popularity among companies’ preferred channels and being allocated the budgets that would normally be directed towards traditional advertising mediums like TV and radio. This exponential growth is mainly due to consumer behaviour.

According to a 2014 InMobi study, 61% of mobile internet users use their phones while watching TV. Moreover, 83% of the consumers stated they were going to be making payments via their mobile phones in the following 12 months, a 15% increase from current data.

As for Romania, the mobile advertising market was estimated at 10 billion euros in 2013 and will grow by up to 30% by 2014. This growth does not align with the adoption rhythm of communication companies in the local market. Presently under 1% of Romanian sites have mobile-friendly versions, according to a statement made by Dan Vîrtopeanu – Managing Partner at Breeze Mobile Agency and speaker at the event.
