Mobile advertising, the segment with the most spectacular growth between 2014-2017

“The State of Affairs in Online Retail in 2015” is a study that has recently been published by alongside Forrester Research and has found that 8 out of 10 US retailers selling their products online will increase their mobile marketing budget by 20% in 2015. The report also found that mobile purchases have increased by 50% compared to 2014.

In Romania at the end of 2014, there were 7.5 million smartphones, 22.6 million SIM cards and 9.3 million active subscription plans, according to data from ANCOM and 9% of all internet traffic in Romania is generated on mobile devices, according to a study realised by the research and consultancy company Gemius in 2014. Customers prefer to spend their time surfing the web from their smartphones on public transport, when shopping, at work and at home. The percentage of smartphone usage is almost constant throughout the day, except for the period between 9 and 11 p.m. during the workweek, and 9 and 10 p.m. during weekends when users are most active.

Mobile advertising is the segment with the most spectacular growth in Romania, and it’s projected to become more and more visible in advertising consumption between 2014 and 2017, due to mobile device acquisition and technological innovation that supports advertising, according to a study by Zenith Media. Mobile advertising is still lagging behind media consumption through mobile devices, which leaves a lot of room for growth in the field. According to the same study, in 2015 the mobile budgets of Romanian companies are predicted to reach 1% of total advertising consumption and 7% of investments in the digital sector. 

This year the Mobile Advertising Congress is on its 6th edition and will bring together visionary national and international leaders with expertise in the online environment, entrepreneurs, marketing professionals, bloggers and those who are passionate about technology and mobile advertising innovation. The 2015 Mobile Advertising Congress will take place on March 31st at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bucharest.
